Vergangene Woche war ein Gruppe Freiwilliger im Rahmen ihrer Bildungstage in London. Dort ging es um das Thema Recht auf Stadt und wem eigentlich der öffentliche Raum gehört. Unter anderem lernten die Freiwilligen MayDay Rooms kennen, ein gemeinnütziges Bildungszentrum. Gegründet wurde es, um historisches Material zu sozialen Strömungen zu sichern und sich der zeitgenössischen Bewegung anzuschließen. Wie ein FSJ auf Englisch beschrieben wird, wollten wir euch nicht vorenthalten:
Young people from Germany, who are doing there a one year volunteer “Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr” (FSJ) in the cultural, political and school sector, are visiting London for a few days to deal with the subject “Reclaim the Streets” and “Who’s the owner of the public space”. Therefore they are meeting different projects who deal with the subject, talk to different people and learn how they fight against the bad condition of the neo-liberal urban development. On the end of their stay the group will try, with the support of London Roots Collective, to transform their new knowledge and ideas about “Reclaim the Streets” in an artistic and social output.
